  • Swimming – Breaststroke 50m
  • Swimming – Freestyle 50m
  • 5k Mini-Marathon

Sheila has previously participated in the World Transplant Games in Sweden 2011, South Africa 2013 and Spain 2017. She has also taken part in the European Transplant and Dialysis Sports Championships in Dublin 2010, Croatia 2012, Poland 2014 and Italy 2018.

‘I have always been a fan of all sports. In 2010 I completed my first European Transplant and Dialysis Games and have been hooked ever since.  I feel very privileged to be able to swim, ride a bike and run in the discipline of Triathlon, something I would not be doing if it were not for the selfless decision of my donor family who have given me the gift of life.  With the help of Nenagh Tri Club and more recently Nenagh Masters swimming, they have helped, coached and encouraged me all the way.  My family and friends have always been supportive of my endeavours through good times and bad.’

You could not meet a nicer group of like-minded people whom I like to call my transplant family.  I use words like – great craic, enthusiastic, caring, supportive (when the chips are down) inclusive, mindful and a little bit mad!  What’s not to love about them all?

‘I wish to participate to the best of my ability as it is the only way I can honour my donor.  I know it will be a wonderful experience.  A bit of sunshine might be nice too!’ ‘As in previous games, I am really looking forward to the upcoming games, meeting up with old friends and make new ones!’
