Julie O’Neill received a living donor kidney transplant in 1982 from her brother Padraig. She is originally from Westport, Co. Mayo but is now living in London, UK.
Julie will be competing at this year’s World Transplant Games in the 60-69 years category in the following events:
Track & Field – 3000m Racewalk
This will be Julie’s first time at the World Transplant Games, but she has previously participated as a transplant patient for the Royal Free Hospital. She was encouraged to join Transplant Team Ireland by teammate Deirdre Faul, whom she has “great admiration for” and who has “huge determination”.
Julie, who owns a London-based recruitment agency, is proud that her transplant has lasted an incredible 37 years and is looking forward to joining the team in Newcastle this year.
