About Us

Since its founding in 1978, the Irish Kidney Association has been dedicated to meeting the needs of renal patients, their families and carers. One of the services of the IKA is its sport programme. You can read more about the sports programme’s place on page 15 in the current Irish Kidney Association Strategic Plan

In 2007 in the spirit of inclusivity, the sports programme became known as Transplant Team Ireland and started using the above logo. It’s like a big family; we have all ages of athletes from under 10 to over 70 and the team is growing every year, with new members always welcome to join.

The Irish Kidney Association is the official member organisation representing Ireland in the World Transplant Games Federation and the European Transplant & Dialysis Sports Federation. It also manages Ireland’s involvement in the British Transplant Games under the banner of the Dublin Transplant Adults team.
