WTG2015 is going very well for our team. Yesterday we had Deirdre and Peter competing in the pool. There was a great buzz in the venue as the traditional powerhouses of the swimming competition, (Great Britain, Hungary, South Africa and the Netherlands), were there in force. Our two were not intimidated and they prepared well for their competitions.

First up was Deirdre in the 100m Breast Stroke. It was a fabulous race from a spectators perspective with any of 5 of the swimmers in with a shot of a medal almost right up to the end. Deirdre maintained her form well coming into the wall and successfully secured a SILVER medal.

Peter was up next in his favourite event, the 50m back stroke. The nerves were there but he has been there before and he put his game face on. He lined up with the others and with Deirdre and Kieran cheering him on he came home in a fabulous time and secured a GOLD medal.

Peter now had a taste for the medal podium and wanted to return so he stepped up for the 100m freestyle. Again he swam hard and the training paid off as he secured a BRONZE medal.

Both Deirdre and peter are in the pool again today. Looking at the standard in the pool yesterday there are some tasty races in prospect today and our two swimmers will be in the thick of it!
